Beautiful Keepsakes to Treasure Forever
The origin of the Messy Stork
Hi, my name is Rachel, and I made absolutely beautiful keepsakes from clothing. I live in Swansea with my husband, our daughter, and our completely crazy puppy dog!
I sewed the first of my clothing keepsakes in spring of 2017, which seems forever ago now… My business was created out of my determination to create a better work life balance, and spend time with my miracle baby.
When my daughter was born, I was part of a retail management team. I worked evenings and weekends, and missed out on time with my family. I developed my business so I could make keepsakes during my daughter’s school days and be home when she is home.
What types of clothing can keepsakes be made from?
The majority of my keepsakes are made from babies’ clothes. This is a lovely way to remember those precious moments from their first year.
After our long hard journey to become parents I really understand how precious those baby clothes are to all you mums. Never fear that my job is one I do lightly or carelessly. I know how precious your little ones are to you.
Here at the Messy Stork I also make bereavement keepsakes from the clothes of loved ones who have passed away. I give the bereavement keepsakes the same high standard of attention and care of the baby clothes I work with. I know these are items that can only be cut once and cannot be replaced.
Keepsakes can be made from any type of clothing that is precious to you, to talk through the type of clothing you would like made into a keepsake and check it is suitable please contact me here.
My keepsake portfolio
Over the years I have perfected my techniques and extended my range…
Initially I just made bears, then I started adding to my range. I wanted to create a rounded collection of keepsakes, so that my customers could choose from traditional bears, to classic nursery animals to more funky styles like the unicorns and llamas.
Each pattern I have added to my portfolio has been chosen to compliment the others. So if you choose more than one style, they will look great together. For more in depth pictures of each of my styles click through to my portfolio here.
How I work
I love being able to create clothing keepsakes my customers will love and cherish. The skill of making a keepsake is not just in the sewing technique but also very much in choosing where to use each piece of clothing.
Every time I create a keepsake, I speak with my customer to find out which clothes and details they would like me to give the most focus to.

Sometimes, if your baby is very young or if you are recently bereaved there will be several months between looking for a keepsake maker and feeling ready to have your keepsake made. I understand this, so I have created a mailing list. Please click the link on my side bar to join my list. This way you can find me easily when you are ready. I will not spam you constantly, just send you a monthly update.
