My keepsake giraffes:
are my most popular style of keepsakes. They are made from a Funky Friends Factory pattern that I have adapted to add moveable button jointed legs.
This beautiful giraffe has a soft peach neck and underside. I have used the same piece of clothing on the tips of the horns and the tip of the tail to give continuity and balance. I used clothing with frills on for both back legs.
Gwenllian always wears a hair bows so her mum asked me to include 2 by her keepsakes ears. The giraffe’s muzzle is made from white velour clothes. So the textures are balanced as well as the colours.
I just love this giraffe. She is so zingy! The clothes she is made from included red, orange, pink, denim and leopard print! What a challenge to put together, and she came out lovely!
Just a quick photo of her face… I used orange on the ears as well as the horns to frame the white of her face.
This white and grey giraffe has a fab furry gruffalo on his neck.
His clothes included one other darker element so I used this for his tail and ear tips.
Neve and Nyla’s twin giraffes. It’s nice to see these 2 side by side and reflect on how different 2 keepsakes can look even though they are made to the same pattern. Where the girls had same and similar clothes I matched their giraffes. So the cats on their sides and their bows.
To make you a keepsake giraffe from baby clothes I will need 8-10 babygros or an equivalent amount of clothing. I can work with any clothes from hats to cardis to dresses to socks and trousers. I say babygros as a guide to the quantity of fabric I need in order to make your keepsake. When you send me your clothes let me know if any particular item is really important to you and I will endeavour to place it in a position where as much of it as possible is on show.
To make you a keepsake giraffe from adult clothing one shirt or tshirt is enough fabric. However using more will add interest to the finished keepsake and the more items your keepsake is made from the more precious memories it will hold for you.
Embroidery of names and dates to personalise your keepsake is always included.
One final word
Keepsake giraffes are created using the clothes that you send to me. They have button jointed moveable legs and black plastic safety eyes. They are filled with polyester toy stuffing. Keepsakes are not toys as they cannot be CE tested and often have large areas of handstitching.
