I am not taking any new orders for quilts or blankets, as I am now concentrating on making cushion and animal style keepsakes.
This page is only still on my website for info for my clients who have already paid deposits for these styles.
The prices
What is the difference?
Both quilts and blankets have a patchwork of clothing squares and rectangles on the front. It is the surrounds and backings that differ.
Blankets have a fleece surround on the front (called a sash) and a fleece back. Quilts have a cotton sash on the front and a cotton back, they also have a layer of wadding inside and a trim (called a binding) all the way round the outside edge. Blankets are less expensive as they contain less materials. Quilts have more materials and also the binding is hand sewn which takes several hours.

What sizes are available?
I make cot size and lap size in both the quilts and the blankets.
Lap size is 27″ x 35″, cot size is 39″ x 47″
The patchwork section is made up of 4″ squares. Where there are larger details on the clothes I will create rectangles or double size squares to show them off. I can embroider names, dates, birth weight and birth time for you onto one of the squares.
What are the prices?
How many clothes do you need?
I need 15-18 items for the the lap size, and 20-25 items for the cot size.
Keepsake Quilt Photographs
So these photos are of a quilt that I made from a collection of soft cashmere shawls and cardigans. The sash fabric is chosen to compliment the colours of the shawls and the backing and binding are made from a cream brushed cotton to continue the soft gentle feel through the whole keepsake.
Sisters’ quilt
This next quilt is made from the baby clothes of 2 sisters. The clothing includes several dresses and a swimming costume. The white waffle sash fabric was chosen to compliment the waffle fabric of one of the dresses.
You can see the duck egg blue backing. and pink binding in the next photo, both chosen to pick out colours in the clothing.
Keepsake Blanket Photographs
This blanket is made from Toby’s baby clothes. It includes a rectangle of a favourite cardigan and a detail from a babygro. The fleece was carefully chosen from a number of samples to match with the shade of blue of the dragons and dinosaurs.
This is his sister Holly’s blanket. She also had a knitted cardie so I placed a rectangle from it in the same position as Toby’s. I also created rectangles from 2 other pieces with cute details. The heart I cut from an appliqued jumper and stitched it onto the top of the squares for added interest.
Here is the square with Holly’s birth details on
When I make your quilt or blanket I will check with you what colours you would like your sash backing and binding or fleece to be. If any particular piece of clothing holds extra special memories for you let me know and and I will use more of it whenever possible.
Embroidery is included in the price. I can add your child’s name, date of birth, and birth weight and time of birth too if you would like.
